Donald Zolfo, CFP®

I am the Founder, President, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional at Midwest Investment and Business Advisors, where my primary responsibilities include building portfolios to protect clients’ assets and grow their wealth, as well as helping clients develop and implement successful financial plans. With nearly 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, I have honed my skills and expertise to provide exceptional value to my clients.

My career began as an Independent Trader on the Chicago Board of Trade, a role I held for 26 years. During this time, I also served as a Senior Lecturer & Consultant for 15 years, primarily at the International Trading Institute, LLC, and the Chicago Institute of Investment. I transitioned to the role of Financial Advisor in October 2013, and in 2020, I founded Midwest Investment and Business Advisors, PLLC. Before embarking on my professional journey, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from the Foster College of Business at Bradley University.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, issued by the CFP Board in December 2023, I am passionate about finding opportunities to generate wealth for my clients and solving their financial challenges. I take pride in being a resourceful connector, linking clients with experts who can address their complex financial, tax, and legal issues. I believe the greatest value I provide to my clients stems from my skills in protecting my own money as a trader, which have seamlessly transferred to managing others' finances. My unique experience in investing and trading qualifies me as an effective money manager, and my years of volunteering and community service have instilled in me a deep empathy when serving clients. It excites me to make a difference in my clients’ lives by helping them achieve peace of mind and confidence in their future.

I am a native of Chicago, currently residing in New Lenox, Illinois, with my wife, Kathy. Together, we have three adult children and one grandson. Outside of work, I love serving in my community in various ministries at our church, St. Jude Parish, including the Knights of Columbus, Parish Council, the Capital Campaign Committee, and the Finance Committee. My family and I enjoy supporting Mercy Home for Boys & Girls that helps build brighter futures for inner city kids that come from difficult family situations. I am a proud Eagle Scout dad and participated in Boy Scouts for many years by supporting my sons, honoring God and country, doing service, and teaching leadership. In my free time, I love to travel with my family, visit with friends, and listen to music. Our life revolves around food, exercise, fun, and music. Our family also enjoys carrying on the family tradition of winemaking, which began for us in the US in 1927. My wife and I are big fans of New Orleans, drawn to the history and mystique of the French Quarter, the Cajun cuisine, and jazz. We also enjoy relaxing with friends, listening to Chicago blues, or catching some of our favorite classic rock bands at our local community band shell.
